For schools Go to Score
… what are you doing for a better world?
There are many ways to use the 'For a Better World Score' at school. You can
All students can use the individual 'Youth - For a Better World Score' (See on the home page own point "Students"), which focuses primarily on the everyday behavior of the students, free of charge. Whether this happens in class, on project days or as part of school project weeks. Through the score, everyone can measure each other, compare and learn from each other. The score is automatically displayed in a logo in digital form for distribution via social media and as a printable file. For example, discarded T-shirts or bags can be upgraded with the score (e.g. via homemade ironing stickers).
On request, we are also happy to provide free teaching materials to facilitate the entry and application of the score. The teaching materials also contain a comparison between the ecological footprint and handprint methods.
By the way: Data protection is very important to us. During registration, no personal data including contact data (e-mail addresses, etc.) is collected. Users can freely select their access data and also like to use Spitz or fantasy takes. With the access data, students can update their score at any time. The only disadvantage: Since no e-mail address is stored, the access data can no longer be reset in the event of "loss"!
Optionally, the 'Youth - For a Better World Score' can be supplemented by the lettering of the school - e.g. for school-internal competitions (award of the top scorers). A one-time fee of 195 EUR (including VAT) will be charged for the adaptation of the logo.
With our action day "1,000 steps for a better world" we want to make a contribution to closing the gap between sustainability knowledge and action. As part of the project day, the SuS determine their own 'For a Better World Score'. In doing so, they choose everything they are already doing for a better world: waste avoidance, (partial) waiver of parental taxes, second-hand, volunteering... every step, no matter how small counts. They then consider what additional steps (e.g. reduction of meat consumption) they would like to take in the future in order to make the world a little better. So that their score is also visible and valued, they receive a label in digital and printable form. Through the score, everyone can measure each other, compare and learn from each other. And more importantly, it also motivates others to participate.
In order to support the latter, the SuS also develop a concept as part of the project day to spread the score at the school, e.g. via a school-wide climate bet: Via the climate bet, all SuS could also be called upon to define the score and future steps. If a total of 1,000 new steps come together for a better world, the entire school will be rewarded. In order to implement the climate bet, the SuS could develop posters, videos, etc. and contact possible sponsors. The entire program includes lectures, plenary discussions and a lot of group work and, above all, creative elements. The project work then ends with the award of the top scorers. You will receive certificates and a small surprise.
The above-mentioned Procedure can be carried out for the entire school or only for certain grade levels and can also be adapted individually. Feel free to ask for further information (incl. costs).
The 'Schools - For a Better World Score' is available to schools free of charge to initiate or support change processes for the sustainable (re)design of the school. The score can also form the basis for nationwide school competitions. This possibility is currently used, among other things, Schleswig-Holstein with the "Low-Emission-Schools" school competition. Every year, the schools that have the highest score and the highest rate of change are awarded in a festive context with prize money, which must be used to implement further climate protection measures at the school. Patron is Ministries Prien (Ministry of Education and Training, Science, Research and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (MBWFK)). The MBWFK is the author of the pictures shown below.
